What is Padel Mexicano?
Padel Mexicano is the competitive version of Americano. Round 1 is drawn at random. From round 2 the live leaderboard decides who plays with whom: 1st and 4th against 2nd and 3rd, 5th and 8th against 6th and 7th, and so on down the table. Players of a similar level end up on the same court, so matches stay close until the last round.
Why 20 players works well
Twenty players on 5 courts is a big club night, and Mexicano keeps it inside two hours. Seven rounds at 15 minutes each take about 1 hour 45 minutes, against almost 5 hours for a full Americano rotation. After each round the table is cut into five groups of four, one per court. The top court plays for the win, and the lower courts have their own races, so the event stays interesting for the whole field and not only for the first four. Five scores have to come in before the next round is drawn. Enter each result on a phone at the court as the match ends — it is faster than collecting paper slips — and the next round is on the screen seconds after the last one.
Scoring in Padel Mexicano
In padel Americano and Mexicano every match is played to a fixed total of points — 16, 24 or 32 in LiveCup — with rally scoring, so every rally counts. A 32-point match might end 18–14: each player on the first pair adds 18 to their personal total, each player on the second pair adds 14. One match takes about 10–15 minutes. The leaderboard is individual: the most points wins, and ties are split by point difference, then wins, then head-to-head points.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between Americano and Mexicano padel?
Americano follows a rotation fixed in advance — everyone partners everyone, whatever the results. Mexicano draws only round 1 at random and pairs every later round from the live standings, so strong players meet strong players. Americano is the social one; Mexicano is the competitive one.
How many courts do I need?
One court per four players keeps everyone playing every round: 2 courts for 8 players, 4 courts for 16. With fewer courts the rounds simply take longer, so plan extra time. In LiveCup, named courts with automatic match assignment are part of the PRO plan; on a single-event pass you get the match list for each round and call the courts yourself.
Can players of different levels play together?
Yes, and Americano is the format built for it. Because partners rotate, a strong player carries a different partner every round and nobody is stuck in a weak pair. Choose Mexicano when levels are closer and the group wants tight matches.
How does the scoring work?
Each match is played to a fixed total of 16, 24 or 32 points with rally scoring. Both pairs keep what they score: an 18–14 result gives 18 points to each player on one side and 14 to each player on the other. The final standings are the sum over all rounds, so every point matters even in a one-sided match.
How long does a tournament take?
Count about 15 minutes per round. Eight players need 7 rounds on 2 courts — roughly 1 hour 45 minutes. A full Americano rotation for 16 players is 15 rounds, close to 4 hours, which is why bigger groups often stop after 7 or 8 rounds or switch to Mexicano. In LiveCup you can end the tournament after any round and the standings at that moment are final.
What does it cost to run it in LiveCup?
A tournament with up to 4 players is free. Bigger events need a single-event pass — $3 for one tournament with up to 32 players, no subscription — or the PRO plan at $9 per month if you organize every week.
How do we keep 5 courts in step?
Play every match to the same points total — 24 is a good pace — and start the rounds together. The next round is drawn when the last score of the round is in.
What if only 18 or 19 players show up?
Mexicano needs a multiple of 4. Find one or two more players, or run an Americano with the group you have.
