Dodgeball tournament organizer: questions
How many teams fit in a one-day dodgeball tournament?
It depends on the gym time. With 20-minute matches and a short break, one court fits roughly 12 matches in 5 hours. That covers a full league of 5 teams (10 matches), or 6 teams in two groups of 3 (6 matches) followed by a short knockout. Use the tournament calculator to check your numbers before you book the gym.
Should I run a league or groups + playoff?
A league works when every team can play every other team, which is typical for a social league and for small events. Choose groups + playoff when you have more teams than time: groups give everyone several matches, then the best teams play a knockout stage and a final.
How is a dodgeball match scored?
The score is the number of games, or rounds, each team won in the match, for example 3-1. The winner gets 3 points, a draw 1 and a loss 0 by default, and you can change the point values.
Can players register their own team?
Yes. Share a QR code or link and captains register with the team name and contact details. You approve the teams, so you stay in control of the list.
How are ties in the table decided?
The table uses points and head-to-head, among other criteria, in the order you choose. Knockout matches need a winner, so you enter the deciding result before the bracket moves on.
Can I show the table on a TV or projector in the gym?
Yes. Open the TV link on any screen and it rotates the standings, the next matches and results automatically.
Is there a free plan, and what is the limit?
Yes. The free plan lets you run a tournament with up to 4 teams. PRO raises the limit to 32 teams and BUSINESS to 64. You can create the tournament and see the schedule before you decide.
Can I run a social dodgeball league?
Yes. Choose the league format and the schedule covers every team playing every other team, with a second leg as an option. Enter results week by week and the table keeps itself current. The league table generator page shows how the standings work.
