Netball tournament organiser: questions
How many teams fit in a one-day netball tournament?
It depends on court time. With games of 2 x 7 minutes plus a changeover, a court gets through about 3 games an hour. Four courts over five hours is plenty for a pool stage with 16 or more teams. Use the tournament calculator to check your numbers before you book the venue.
Should I run a league or pools + finals?
A league is right when every team can play every other team, which is the normal case for a club or workplace competition. Choose pools + finals when you have more teams than time: pools give everyone several games, then the best teams play a finals series and a grand final.
Can I set shorter games for a carnival?
Yes. The default match length is 40 minutes, and you can change it to whatever your day needs, such as two 7-minute halves or four 7-minute quarters. The scheduler uses it to plan court times.
Can teams enter themselves?
Yes. Share a QR code or link and captains or teachers enter with the team name and contact details. You approve the teams, so you stay in control of the list.
How are ties on the ladder decided?
The ladder uses points (2 for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for a loss), goal difference, goals scored and head-to-head, in the order you choose. You can adjust the points if your competition uses a different system.
Can I show the ladder on a TV at the courts?
Yes. Open the TV link on any screen or projector and it rotates the ladder, the next games and results automatically.
Is there a free plan, and what is the limit?
Yes. The free plan lets you run a tournament with up to 4 teams. PRO raises the limit to 32 teams and BUSINESS to 64. You can create the tournament and see the fixtures before you decide.
Can I run a season-long club competition?
Yes. Choose the league format and the fixtures cover every team playing every other team, with a second leg as an option. Enter results week by week and the ladder keeps itself current. The league table generator page shows how the standings work.
