The logic is simple: players enter as individuals, not fixed pairs. Round 1 pairs them up, round 2 reshuffles, and so on. After a set number of rounds — typically playerCount minus 1 for even player counts — the player with the most accumulated points wins. Unlike league or cup formats where only the winner of each match scores, Americano tracks points earned per game, so every rally counts toward your personal total. Why it took over clubs: you can schedule 8, 12, 16, or 24 players without worrying about pairing compatibility. Skill mismatches even out across rounds because strong and weak players rotate through everyone. Americano uses a fixed rotation schedule — everyone plays with everyone else regardless of performance. Mexicano pairs players by current standings after Round 1, so stronger players face stronger players. Americano is more social; Mexicano is more competitive.
