Volleyball, tennis, table tennis, badminton and some other sports are played in sets. You choose how many sets a match has. You can also decide what happens when the sets are tied.
Darts and padel have their own match settings and do not use this page. For the other set sports it is free on every plan.
Choose the sets format
Open your tournament and click Settings, then General.
Find the Match Format card.
Under Sets format, choose one of two:
Best of: the first team to win more than half of the sets wins. Pick Best of 3, Best of 5 and so on. A match cannot be a draw.
Fixed number of sets: every match plays all its sets. Under Number of sets, choose from 1 to 5.
Under Points to Win a Set, change the number if you play shorter sets, for example 21 instead of 25.
Click Save changes.

After you start the tournament, the match format is locked. It would change matches that are already played.
Draws in a fixed number of sets
With 2 fixed sets, a team can win 2:0 or lose 0:2. It can also finish 1:1. In a group stage or a league, that match is a draw.
A draw gives 0 points by default. If you use an even number of sets, LiveCup.app shows a yellow note with a link Adjust points. Click it and set For draw in the Scoring card.
What if a knockout match is tied?
A knockout match needs a winner. When you choose a fixed number of sets in a tournament with a knockout part, a card named Knockout tie-break appears. Pick one:
Golden set: one extra set, played to the points shown under the option.
Total points: the team with more points over all sets wins. If the points are equal too, you pick the winner. Not every sport tracks set points, then this option is greyed out.
Best of: knockout matches ignore the fixed format. They are played as best of 3, 5 and so on, which you choose below.

Enter the scores
You enter points inside one set and confirm each set. The steps are the same for every set sport. See enter live scores.
In short: tap + for each point. When the set is won, click Confirm Set (some sports show Finish Set). When all sets are done, click End Match. In a fixed format you play all the sets, even if one team already leads 2:0 in a 3-set match.
A wrong final result? Edit Score changes only the sets result. See fix a wrong score.
